How does CBD works on Horses?

Research shows that horses like all mammals have an Endo-cannabinoid System (ECS) and play an integral role in maintaining the body’s homeostasis and like the immune or nervous system, are your horse’s first line of defense against stress, infections, disease, etc.

The ECS produce the body’s own Endo-cannabinoid compounds but unfortunately, the ECS can not always produce enough endo-cannabinoids to keep up with whatever is causing the body stress. When this happens, your horse may become hypersensitive to inflammation, pain, allergies, nervousness, and on.

Which science now knows is that CBD (cannabidiol) is an natural exogenous cannabinoid and can be use in a seamless way to introduce cannabinoids into the Endo-cannabinoid system in a non-psychoactive way for horses who have a chronic illness or whose body simply doesn't produce enough cannabinoids.

When CBD is introduced into the Endo-cannabinoid system, there can be a wide range of positive effects on the horse's body.

Is CBD safe for horses?

Studies suggest that CBD oil is safe for horses and has the potential to deliver incredible results. If your horse is suffering from any of the aforementioned health concerns, CBD oil may be a great option to choose among other hemp products.

How to administer CBD oil to horses?

There are 2 ways to provide CBD:

Sublingual: Placing the drops under the tongue and holding them there for 30 seconds provides good bioavailability and kicks in quickly. This is maybe difficult to do for picky animals.

Oral: Adding CBD oil to food, maybe will take more days for the effects to become apparent, but this method is longer lasting than under the tongue. Pellets providing improved bioavailability and hence, lower effective dosing.
